It emphasizes the importance of sex education at school, even if there is no censensus about the content of this controversial subject. It presents sex education as a "fascinating" and important subject for young people because it should guide them in their development into adults who are capable of integrating sexuality and intimacy with others into their lives in a meaningful and positive way. …

  4. Young men as equal partners (YMEP)

    This publication provides "knowledge, values and understanding of issues on sexuality to boys and young men". It centres on the deconstruction of gender stereotypes that lead to lack of communication and risk behaviour, and advocates a positive view of sexuality to empower individuals to make healthy, respectful and responsible choices. The authors believe that, in order to achieve behaviour change, sex education programmes must be "realistic and closer to the realities and feelings" of young people. …

    This toolkit translates useful academic models, evidence, theories and other information into a practical 'cookbook', providing many tips, experiences and tools that have been used in projects in Africa and Asia. These projects are aimed at the design, implementation and evaluation of sexuality education programmes for young people. The toolkit uses the intervention mapping model as a framework that helps planners to systematically design health programmes and encourages them to take evidence-based decisions. …
