    BACKGROUND: Over a third of new HIV infections globally are among 15-24 year-olds and over 20% among adolescents aged 10-19 years in Asia Pacific. The review was initiated to identify interventions in the region with demonstrated or potential impact for adolescent and young key populations (YKP) looking at the role of individual and structural factors in accessibility and delivery.   2. Evaluation of HIV/AIDS prevention through peer education, counselling, health care, training and urban refuges in Ghana

    Since 1996, Ireland Aid has supported UNICEF Ghana in the implementation of five activities that promote behaviour change to limit the spread of HIV/AIDS and STIs. The interventions are run by different local organisations, and have provided over 75,000 in and out-of-school youth and commercial sex workers with preventive education. People retained the information given, are knowledgeable about how HIV is transmitted, and can name key preventive methods. They pass on the information to their friends.   3. Assessment of Utilization of the HIV Interventions by Sex Workers in Selected Brothels in Bangladesh

    This study aims to examine changes in knowledge, attitude and behavioural practices of the female sex workers (FSWs) for STI and HIV and AIDS prevention and to understand the socio-cultural context for these changes in the selected brothels. It shows that the peer educators were found to be acceptable and credible facilitators to the FSWs in brothels. It shows that FSWs' high knowledge of STIs/HIV/AIDS was not always supported by the skills to negotiate with the clients. Therefore, more life skills training and role-playing exercises will be part of the training program for the FSWs. …
