    Diversidad sexual: Conceptos para pensar y trabajar en salud es un material elaborado como apoyo bibliográfico a las capacitaciones sobre sexualidad a cargo de Ricardo Duranti en el marco del proyecto para mejorar la accesibilidad a la prevención, diagnóstico y atención del VIH e ITS de población homosexual, bisexual y trans. El proyecto es coordinado por la Dirección de Sida y Enfermedades de Transmisión Sexual y cuenta con el apoyo técnico-financiero de ONUSIDA, PNUD, UNFPA y OPS.

    Con esta guía, las y los docentes obtendrán información actualizada y científica para comprender una serie de aspectos sobre la sexualidad de las y los adolescentes y de jóvenes con orientaciones sexuales o identidades de género diferentes. Además, encontrarán información sobre el marco normativo internacional y nacional que ampara sus derechos, así como algunos recursos metodológicos para enfrentar situaciones de acoso escolar o bullying homofóbico, lesbofóbico y transfóbico, a nivel individual y al interior del aula.

  3. Working with transgender children and their classmates in pre-adolescence: Just be supportive

    This study documents a school district’s coordinated response to an elementary student’s social transition from a gender variant boy to a female gender expression. Data were gathered through analysis of journal entries, lesson plans, and interviews with the child, guardian, and district personnel. Stakeholders reported a favorable outlook on the transition, particularly in the areas of classroom and school interventions, peer involvement, and maintaining safety for all.   6. Bullying of lesbian and gay youth: a qualitative investigation

    The preponderance of bullying research does not address sexual orientation as a possible factor. The purpose of this study was to explore the perspectives of service providers and youth advocates working with lesbian and gay communities in order to increase understanding of bullying of lesbian and gay youth. In depth, semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine key informants from various education and social service settings. Interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim.   12. A 40 años de Stonewall Inn: "Transfobia, lesbofobia, homofobia, bifobia en Latinoamérica y El Caribe"

    América Latina y El Caribe es territorio cultural diverso, que se iguala en las características del estigma y discriminación que aplica a personas lesbianas, trans, gays, bisexuales, intersexuales. De acuerdo al estudio 'Homofobia de Estado 2009' de ILGA, en LAC existen 11 países que penalizan la homosexualidad. En los países en que esto no es así, de igual forma, existe una práctica punitiva legitimada, que refleja la exclusión cultural de la orientación sexual no heterosexual y de las prácticas que se le asocian.

  13. Overlooked and at Risk: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Youth in the Caribbean

    As long as criminalization of homosexuality and stigma, discrimination and violence against LGBT individuals continues in the Caribbean, the emotional and physical health of LGBT young people is at risk. All young people have the right to be treated equally under the law and to live free of discrimination and harassment. Organizations, governments, and individuals must work toward full acceptance and recognition of LGBT people, including young people.

    This webinar presented an overview of research findings from GLSEN's 2009 National School Climate Survey, as detailed in a new report on the school experiences of LGBT youth that was released on September 13th. We discussed the prevalence of a hostile school climate for many LGBT youth, including the high frequency of homophobic remarks made in school and of in-school victimization because of sexual orientation and gender expression. …
