    This study compares the effectiveness of audio computer-assisted self-interviewing (Audio-CASI) with face-to-face interviews and self-administered questionnaires in collecting sensitive information on risky sexual and other behaviors among young men in urban India. A randomized study design compared data collected from 900 male college students using the three data-collection approaches and from 600 young men residing in slums using Audio-CASI and face-to-face interviews. …

  9. Survey assessment of Vietnamese youth

    This survey known as SAVY, which stands for Survey Assessment of Vietnamese Youth, was carried out by the Ministry of Health (MoH), the General Statistics Office (GSO), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations ChildrenÆs Fund (UNICEF). Nearly 7600 participants from 42 provinces across the country including males and females, married and unmarried, Kinh and ethnic minority.   10. Prevention of HIV/AIDS among migrant workers in Thailand (PHAMIT) : the baseline survey 2004

    The Baseline Survey 2004 was carried out as a part of the evaluation and monitoring of the Prevention of HIV/AIDS among Migrant Workers in Thailand (PHAMIT) project. It has provided a comprehensive overview of migrant populations and their related circumstances and behaviour. This survey was conducted during April-June 2004, and covered 3,426 male and female migrant workers from Myanmar, Cambodia and Lao People's Democratic Republic. Among other things, the survey finds that the prevalence of casual sexual relationship is very high among migrants. …

  12. Adolescent' girls' life aspirations and reproductive health in Nepal

    The study described in this paper takes a participatory and positive approach to improving adolescent reproductive health in a rural and urban community in Nepal. It shows that adolescent girls in these communities have dreams and aspirations for a better future and that adults acknowledge and support these ideals. However, social norms and institutions are restrictive, especially for girls, who are often unable to realise their hopes for continuing education, finding better-paid work or delaying marriage and childbearing, and this directly impacts reproductive outcomes. …

    The qualitative research study examines the contraceptive practices and understanding of women in Quirino Province, Philippines that have led many women to discontinue use of contraception even though they do not wish to become pregnant. Three factors are examined for their impact on contraceptive use behaviour; occurrence of side effects, spousal relations, and quality of care.

    The report presents findings from the second round of the Cambodian Behavioral Surveillance Survey (BSS) completed in June 1998 as well as some important differences in the levels of reported behaviour from the BSSI (1997) to the BSS II (1998). The BSSII was conducted in the provinces in Cambodia to track sexual behaviour changes in Cambodia.
