The HIV Preventive Education Information Kit for School Teachers is aimed at assisting and guiding school teachers in dealing with challenges related to HIV and AIDS in the school setting. This includes countering community resistance to HIV and AIDS education, addressing stigma and discrimination and reducing risk behaviours.
The study provides information on key reproductive and sexual health indicators in young women and men age 15-24 in 38 developing countries. The data come from Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) and AIDS Indicator Surveys (AIS) conducted between 2001 and 2005. Indicators are selected for the following key areas: background characteristics; adolescent pregnancy; contraception; sexual activity; and HIV/AIDS-related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. Additional analysis examines the association of various individual and household characteristics with the key indicators.

It aims to increase the capacity of teachers to provide accurate and appropriate information on STI. The kit consists of 4 sections. Section 1: Understanding Sexually Transmitted Infections. Section 2: STI Education. Section 3: Understanding Young People's Behaviour and Section 4: Teaching STI Prevention. The briefing kit has an annex consisting of a comprehensive list of resources for STI education.
