    This Caribbean adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) situational analysis is informed and structured by two conceptual frameworks: the Mapping Adolescent Programming and Measurement (MAPM) framework and the Ecological Framework for Health. The MAPM framework complements the logical framework and other tools for designing, monitoring and evaluating programs. It begins by defining the outcomes that are subject to change.   6. Cross-Generational Relationships: Perceived Norms and Practices in Jamaica

    This report from C-Change/FHI 360 documents a study that explored the dynamics of cross-generational relationships in Jamaica, with the aim of informing communication programs working to decrease cross-generational sexual practices and their related risks, including gender-based violence (GBV) and HIV. This study defined cross-generational sex as sexual behavior between two people who are at least 10 years different in age. The authors found that key motivators for participating in these relationships were sexual gratification and emotional and financial support. …

  7. HIV prevention on the U.S.-Mexico border: addressing the needs of most-at-risk populations

    Situated on major drug trafficking routes that bring heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine from Mexico into the United States, Tijuana and Juarez experience high rates of local drug use and rank first and second, respectively, in prevalence of illicit drug use within the country.   8. Prevalence and correlates of sexual risk behaviors among Jamaican adolescents

    Despite high levels of sexual activity and risk behaviors among Jamaican youth, few population-based studies have examined their prevalence or correlates. The prevalence of three sexual risk behaviors was assessed using data from the 2008-2009 Jamaican Reproductive Health Survey on a subsample of adolescents aged 15-19 who neither were in a union nor had a child. Factors associated with the risk behaviors were examined separately for females and males, using bivariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression. …

    In this report, we present a Gender-Based Analysis (GBA) of HIV/AIDS in Belize. Added analysis of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and gender-based violence (GBV) is provided, as they affect biological risks and social vulnerabilities and help inform the GBA of HIV/AIDS. The objective is to explore current epidemiological patterns and trends, access to testing and treatment, health-related outcomes, and various risk factors associated with contracting HIV/AIDS among men, women, boys and girls living in Belize.

    O artigo apresenta um estudo realizado com 1.068 mulheres soropositivas. Os questionários elaborados visavam descrever os aspectos da vida sexual e reprodutiva das entrevistadas, bem como a maneira como elas percebiem o aconselhamento nesta área fornecido pelos Centros de Referências.     Le présent rapport met en évidence les apports de l'OMS à l'accès universel en 2008 et 2009. Il décrit la façon dont l'OMS travaille et identifie des réalisations spécifiques dans chacun des cinq domaines stratégiques suivants : 1) permettre aux patients de connaitre leur statu sérologique ; 2) maximiser la contribution du secteur de la santé à la prévention du VIH ; 3) accélérer l'extension du traitement et des soins en matière de VIH ; 4) renforcer et étendre les systèmes de santé ; et 5) investir dans l'information stratégique pour tenter de mieux étayer la riposte au VIH.

Which Can You Change? is a document part of the project of the United States National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. It addresses two main primary questions: 1) what factors influence adolescents' decisions about sex? And 2) Which of these factors can be altered? By identifying and targeting those factors it tries to provide information to reduce sexual risk-taking.
