The Educational Policy Addressing Social Inclusion (EPASI) project is an effort to identify and analyse a sample of existing policies and implemented projects addressing educational inequality in 14 of the 27 member states. This report begins with a brief outlining of gender and sexuality definitions and concepts, moves onto present findings of the projects that deal with gender and sexuality, the educational policies followed, descriptions of projects that represent these policies in practise and concludes with a summary, conclusions and recommendations.

Brindemos apoyo y comprencion a todos los jovenes en general, pero en especial a los que mas nos necesitan.
La homofobia y el sexismo están sirviendo de doble forma para acosar e intimidar a los chicos y chicas más vulnerables: por una parte, se persiguen todas las rupturas de género y sexualidad de todos, independientemente de su orientación sexual y género. The main aim of the seminar is to address how homosexuality is dealt with in (primary and secondary) schools in Eastern Europe, what is the situation of GLBT pupils/students in these schools and how GLBT teachers are treated at their workplace in schools. The seminar is organized as part of the European research project 'Citizens in Diversity: A Four Nation Study on Homophobia and Fundamental Rights' financed by the European Commission. Selected results from the research will be presented at the final round table discussion (see program).
This report assesses the barriers which young LGB people routinely face in school. These include: homophobic bullying, school staff not adequately trained to tackle homophobia, a curriculum which does not recognise the existence of LGB young people and education structures which place all power and authority with unaccountable Boards of Governors.
While developments have been made concerning the understanding of general bullying behaviour in Irish schools, considerably less is known about homophobic bullying. Presented here are the findings of a study into the views and perspectives of a self-selected sample of 123 lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered (LGBT) secondary school-aged young people in Ireland. Findings highlight the extent to which such students experience name calling, teasing and bullying in their everyday lives. …
