   Este trabajo de investigación fue motivado por la preocupación que ha generado la creciente infección de VIH/SIDA entre las mujeres, principalmente "amas de casa" del Ecuador. La hipótesis de partida fue que esta realidad tiene directa relación con los patrones culturales de género existentes en el país, los cuales hacen más vulnerable a ese grupo poblacional.
