It discusses the project's objectives, strategic approaches and the implementation, monitoring and evaluation processes, which include selecting pilot countries; launching the project in the selected countries; designing a monitoring and evaluation framework; selecting candidates for National United Nations Volunteer (NUNV) posts and identifying future training needs; capacity-building and translating the monitoring and evaluating framework into an operational tool for day-to-day management.

A cheerful heart is the adaptation of a play entitled "Beware of appearances" or "appearances can be deceptive" written by the students of Dabout, Côte d'Ivoire. This was done at the initiative of the Dabout AIDS Control Committee. The play was awarded a prize at a competition called "" organized by Médecins du Monde, the Regional Centre for Information and Prevention of AIDS and the AIDS Prevention Association.
This document is a synopsis of information available on pilot projects initiated jointly by WHO and UNESCO. The document provides a justification and the rationale for education on AIDS at school. It looks at the formulation and design of projects. It presents project objectives, site selection, project preparation and evaluation. The document also contains briefs on projects carried out in Ethiopia, Jamaica, Mauritius and the Pacific Islands, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Venezuela.
Cette étude envisage de comprendre l'importance de la sexualité chez les adolescents, l'évolution et les différences de comportement sexuel, les connaissances et attitudes sur la planification familiale et la santé de reproduction et le SIDA, les différences dans l'utilisation des méthodes contraceptives par les adolescentes mariées et les célibataires au cours des 15 dernières années et enfin par les adolescentes mariées et autres femmes mariées. Les résultats de l'étude montrent la complexité, la sensibilité et l'urgence des problèmes qui se posent.
Ce document du séminaire régional sur l'éducation et le SIDA dans le système scolaire est un instrument de diffusion de la Déclaration de Dakar et des grandes lignes des plans d'actions nationaux. This is the final report of a Regional Seminar on Education and AIDS in Educational Systems for French-Speaking countries in Africa that was convened in Dakar, Senegal, from 21-25 April 1997. The meeting was concerned with mobilising educational systems in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Youth before the first sexual intercourse were identified as a priority target for preventive education at school. The report is expected to guide in the formulation of action and follow-up plans that can quickly be implemented in the various countries.
HIV counseling is an important component of HIV/AIDS prevention. Evaluations from Uganda and Rwanda demonstrated this. Yet, there is a reluctance among some decision-makers and service managers to give HIV counseling its proper due as a discipline through which trained practitioners can produce measurable useful results. It is under-resourced and not fully appreciated.
This Sourcebook aims to support efforts by countries to strengthen the role of the education sector in the prevention of HIV/AIDS. This UNESCO guide is a collection of examples of "best practices" in HIV/AIDS preventive education for African women especially the illiterate and the semi-literate. It is the result of contributions from some twenty coordinators of African women's grassroots organisations, specialists and national and international experts involved in HIV/AIDS preventive education.
