  3. Women living with HIV speak out against violence: A collection of essays and reflections of women living with and affected by HIV

    Violence against women and girls is an unacceptable violation of basic human rights. It also is so widespread that ending it must be a global public health priority. An estimated one in three women is beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused by an intimate partner during her lifetime. Intimate partner violence has been shown to increase the risk of HIV infection by around 50%, and violence (and the fear of violence) deters women and girls from seeking services for HIV prevention, treatment, care and support.

    Diversity in School offers training on gender, sexuality, and ethnic (race) relations for teaching professionals. The resource, originally delivered in Brazil, was the result of a partnership between the Brazilian Government’s Special Secretariat for Policies on Women, the Special Secretariat for the Promotion of Policies on Racial Equality (SEPPIR/PR), the Brazilian Ministry of Education, the British Council and the Latin American Centre on Sexuality and Human Rights.     Diversidad sexual: Conceptos para pensar y trabajar en salud es un material elaborado como apoyo bibliográfico a las capacitaciones sobre sexualidad a cargo de Ricardo Duranti en el marco del proyecto para mejorar la accesibilidad a la prevención, diagnóstico y atención del VIH e ITS de población homosexual, bisexual y trans.     Con esta guía, las y los docentes obtendrán información actualizada y científica para comprender una serie de aspectos sobre la sexualidad de las y los adolescentes y de jóvenes con orientaciones sexuales o identidades de género diferentes.     This report is a call to decision makers, parents, communities and to the world to end child marriage. It documents the current scope, prevalence and inequities associated with child marriage. This document argues that child marriage jeopardizes girls’ rights and stands in the way of girls living educated, healthy and productive lives. Furthemore, early marriage also excludes girls from fundamental decisions, such as the timing of marriage and choice of spouse.
