  4. Education à la santé et à la prévention du SIDA dans l'enseignement secondaire : étude comparative de situations d'enseignement entre la France et le Congo-brazzaville

    Nous présentons ici nos résultats préliminaires concernant l’étude des pratiques d’enseignants de biologie du secondaire dans la prévention du SIDA. Par une étude comparative entre la France et le Congo-Brazzaville, nous cherchons à définir l’articulation entre les contenus enseignés sur le SIDA (par rapport aux programmes), les situations pédagogiques mises en oeuvre, les modèles de prévention et la perception que les enseignants ont de leur rôle d’acteur de prévention-SIDA, et d'autre part l'impact que ces pratiques peuvent avoir sur le système didactique.

  5. HIV eLearning and classroom research study. Comparing the use of eLearning to traditional classroom learning to enhance HIV knowledge uptake in life orientation in primary schools in the Western Cape, South Africa and in Dublin, Ireland

    This study sought to provide evidence whether eLearning compared to classroom instruction improved HIV knowledge uptake among learners between ages 11 – 16 years. Based on the study’s findings, the supporting education departments are strongly advised to consider implementing eLearning as a technique to transfer HIV knowledge to adolescents using a culturally-adapted and interactive platform.

    Education has long been identified as having a key role to play in reducing HIV-related risk and vulnerability, and in mitigating the impact of the epidemic on affected individuals and communities. This article reflects on progress over a 30-year period with respect to older and more emergent forms of education concerning HIV and AIDS: treatment education, education for HIV prevention, and education to encourage a positive and supportive community response.   10. Gender and Sexuality/HIV Education

    Sex/HIV education curricula have disparate effects for females and males. Review of 59 rigorous sex ed evaluations from the U.S. and developing countries. After omitting single sex programs, programs with no effect, and programs that changed only knowledge, 38 remained (25 U.S. and 13 developing country). A third of these failed to disaggregate results by gender, leaving 25. This article looks at why this is the case and how gender affects SRH outcomes.
